Today, we rehearsed our monologues in the auditorium. After warming up, students did some body work by doing "Walk Across." Then, we worked on voices by saying lines with different emotions. The remainder of class, students worked in small groups rehearsing their monologues.
Today, students took the Stage Terms quiz. After, students "dissected" their monologues and then shared me their work for 10 points. Once complete, students had the remainder of class time to work on memorizing their monologues.
Today, we reviewed memorization techniques as a class. Then, students filled out GOTE sheets for their monologues and turned them in for 10 points. The last 15 minutes of class, students volunteered to perform two-person scenes from our improv book.
Students learned about the monologue assignment (see handout on main class page). Monologue performances will be next Monday (October 1st). Students selected their monologues today, then the class played the theatre game, "Complaint Department."
We continued working on monologues today, then spent the last part of class learning new theatre games. Students will be performing their monologues tomorrow for a grade.
