We received "Letters to Santa" from a 1st grade class from Village school today. In small groups, students wrote a practice letter from Santa to the child. We shared these letters using our class document reader. At the end of class, we discussed rules and guidelines for writing appropriate letters from Santa. On Monday, every student will receive a letter from a child which he/she will respond to as Santa.
Students participated in a "Meet and Greet." We went to Mrs. Farrell's room so the students could share their writing with the artists who inspired them. The students also reviewed other students' work and wrote critiques. Light refreshments were served as well.
Students turned in a hard copy of the final drafts of their art-inspired pieces and shared it with me online on Google Docs and Turnitin.
