Students turned in their notebooks today and posted comments on their blogs about each other's memoirs.
Students worked in the library on the following:
*printing and binding their children's books and letters
*rough drafts of their memoirs (editing sheet/checklist provided)
*organization of notebooks (rubric provided)
We finished discussing how to make a memoir, then we reviewed the memoir assignment, and students began the prewriting activity, "Timeline of My Life."
Students continued to study memoirs by completing the assignment "Understanding Memoir Structure." The assignment was completed in their notebooks.
We began the memoir unit today by studying former student samples online and responding to questions in our notebooks.
Students worked in the lab on the final draft of their children's stories and letters. Final drafts of both are due Thursday, April 5th at midnight.
Rough drafts were due today for 20 points. Students were given the 'Letter to the Illustrator' assignment and spent the majority of the hour revising their rough drafts.
