Students had the hour to work on their story outlines (25 points), one-sentence descriptions (10 points), and begin writing their rough drafts in their notebooks. Outlines and sentences were due at the end of the hour.
We discussed ideas for children's books and completed a brainstorm entry called "My Childhood." We then went over the unit overview handout and passed out story outlines.
We began a new unit today on Children's Literature by completing an analysis of various children's books in our notebooks.
In the library, students read each other's screenplays on their online portfolios and posted comments on their blogs.

Rough drafts were due at the beginning of the hour for 10 points. Students spent the hour revising/editing their screenplays.
Students worked on the rough drafts of their screenplays in the lab. They also put a link to their part seven of the International story and then voted for their favorites. The top three chosen will earn extra credit and the top part seven will be added to the International blog.
We continued analyzing screenplays and making notes in our Writer's Notebooks. Then, we reviewed the assignment requirements for the Screenwriting unit. With the time left, students began working on the rough draft of their screenplays.
We discussed elements of screenwriting and took notes in our writer's notebooks. We also watched excerpts of a few films to see how the scripts transfer to the silver screen.
